Step 1

Complimentary Design Consultation

Your journey begins with an in-home visit from a Lars Project Consultant. We’ll listen to your vision, lifestyle needs, and investment goals, while introducing you to the benefits of our Design–Build approach.

During this consultation, your Project Consultant will:

  • Provide an approximate cost range based on your project goals
  • Share expected time frames for design, permitting, and construction
  • Discuss living arrangement options during construction (stay in your home or temporarily relocate)

This ensures you have a realistic understanding of what’s possible before you invest in the design phase.

Step 2

Design Agreement & Concept Development

Once you move forward with a Design Agreement, your Project Consultant, along with our in-house Architectural and Interior Design team, will:

  • Measure your home and prepare precise “as-built” plans
  • Develop multiple design concepts tailored to your needs and style
  • Present your options using immersive 3D visuals in our Design Center

You’ll meet directly with an interior designer to ensure we’re aligned on your vision, style preferences, and the types of materials you love — from cabinetry and countertops to flooring, fixtures, and finishes. This early alignment reduces the chance of change orders caused by misaligned expectations.

We also conduct a Products Meeting to review appliance and plumbing fixture options early. These can require specialized electrical, gas, or drain configurations that may affect layout and cost, so addressing them now prevents costly redesigns later.

You’ll receive a Detailed Scope Summary outlining exactly what’s included to complete your project — paired with 3D renderings so you can visualize your space before construction begins. Because our construction team is involved from the start, we provide the actual cost to complete your remodel — every material, labor hour, and detail accounted for

Step 3

Plans, Permits & Selections

With your design finalized, the process now runs in two parallel tracks:

  1. Our team begins securing all required permits and coordinating any necessary engineering or HOA approvals.

You work with your designer to finalize every material selection and design detail — from cabinetry finishes and countertops to tile, flooring, fixtures, lighting, and more.

We do not begin construction until both the permit is in hand and all selections are finalized. This ensures we can build your project quickly and efficiently without pausing for midstream decisions.

By the time construction starts, every detail is decided — allowing you to enjoy the process without last-minute choices or delays.

Step 4

Construction & Project Management

Your dedicated Project Manager leads the build with the same team that helped design it, ensuring your vision is carried through every detail.

We provide a detailed online construction schedule outlining exactly how we will build your project from start to finish — every phase, milestone, and step clearly mapped out and accessible 24/7.

We believe communication is vital for a successful project. That’s why we hold a weekly in-person meeting with you to review the project using our three-week glance method:

  • Last week: Review completed work and address any follow-up items
  • This week: Discuss current progress and active tasks
  • Next week: Preview upcoming work and prepare for any decisions or actions needed

For clients who do not live in the home during construction — including those out of state — our daily logs with photos and notes in our online client portal (BuilderTrend) ensure you can follow every detail from anywhere.

Step 5

Project Completion & Beyond

We conclude with a thorough walk-through to confirm every detail meets our high standards and your expectations. Professional photos capture your transformation, and our industry-leading warranty provides lasting peace of mind.
