I hired Lars to do an addition to my home. I wanted a company that I could trust. I had a deadline by which the work absolutely needed to be completed. They promised to meet that deadline. Not only did they meet it, they got the permits, asked if it was okay to start the project early, and completed it months ahead of my deadline. From the beginning, Wendy, our design consultant, had amazing suggestions and ideas. And she listened to what we liked and helped us to design a gorgeous space that I love. Christie and Wendy helped us pick out the perfect features for our new space. And I cannot say enough about our project manager, Memo. He was there every day overseeing every aspect of the project. He was patient with my concerns and questions always responding and addressing the smallest of things. I am so pleased with the addition and would recommend this team again and again!

I would highly recommend the Lars team. The whole team is highly professional. We hired Lars for the addition of a bedroom and full bathroom to our house. We had some issues with our HOA regarding the addition, and they have been with us, attended HOA meetings to address any architectural questions for the HOA, and came up with a backup plan, as the original plan did not go through. Jennifer was our project manager, and she gave us wonderful ideas on how we could plan the addition in the limited space we had. Kudos to her design skills :). Dwayne was our site manager, and he went above and beyond to address any concerns or questions we had regarding the construction. They looked after all the materials and paperwork for us. We are totally happy with our new addition. 5 stars all the way!!!

There are not enough positive adjectives to describe our experience with Lars. We had an addition and total house remodel done by Lars to meet our multigenerational needs. We were in need of a construction company because our current company had gone bankrupt. We met Brandon quite by accident and there was an immediate sense that all four of the adults just knew this was the right fit for us. There was a trust and a comfort level we had not experienced prior to meeting with him. Then we had the pleasure of working with Erica, the perfect designer! She just had a sense for what our wishes were and fit them to our budget. She had amazing suggestions that we incorporated into our home. We’ve been back in our home now for 6 months and I think I am still thanking her daily for her input on something we love. Then we were able to work with Owen, the best project manager on earth! Owen kept everything moving along so well that we actually finished ahead of schedule by weeks! He offered suggestions that made our house look amazing. We met with him weekly to check the progress. And Randy did a wonderful job with all of our punch list items. He is very detailed and things were perfectly finished off. These people were all so amazing and communication with any of them was superb. I simply cannot stress enough how communication was a key component with the success of our project. We would give Lars 10 stars if we could!

Working with Lars was a great experience. We interviewed three of the top firms in San Diego, but we were most comfortable with the people and the process of Lars. We lived in our home for 5 years and love our neighborhood and neighbors, but our home lacked function and curb appeal. We literally had a front porch without a front entryway! I also work fully remotely and did not have an office. So we embarked on the journey to design an addition to our home and redesign the entire front of the house, which included a kitchen remodel as well. The customer service with Lars is fantastic. Jennifer was our project consultant. She is the main reason we went with Lars over the other two firms. She is the perfect balance of direct and warm, approachable and realistic. She genuinely wants what is best for your home and your family. She guided us through all of the steps so that we knew exactly what was to be expected and approximate, realistic timelines for each step. The initial design took a little longer than I had hoped but I took comfort in knowing Lars is exercising due diligence versus slapping some design plans together and seeing what sticks. Wendy guided us along with design selections. She was easy breezy and helpful in giving us great options to consider with the few decisions I was not 100% on. She’s also a friendly, sweet person! Our project manager was Troy. He is amazing! He pushed the construction through faster than we had anticipated. He handled all project issues with efficiency and professionalism. I would not have wanted anyone else to oversee our remodel. He made us feel very confident in the quality of work and kept us well informed since we were not living in the home for the majority of the project. He did an exemplary job managing the trades. We’re very close with our neighbors and would check in with them often to ensure they were not disturbed in the process. They had only wonderful things to say about Troy and the trades. When we moved in just before Christmas, thanks to Troy’s diligence, it was as smooth a process as can be expected. Troy went out of his way to ensure every last detail was perfect. The entire team at Lars makes us smile! We knew we could save money by selecting another firm or even going with an architect and a general contractor. The entire experience was well worth the investment. It is our forever home for our children, and we are so grateful for the process and the final product. It was well worth the time and money. You cannot put a price on good people, particularly those who can make a typically very stressful experience (any home project) feel like an exciting adventure! We love Lars and would recommend them to anyone thinking of making their home more beautiful and functional.

We could not be happier with our new kitchen. It turned out to be better than we ever imagined! Thinking back to what we first envisioned when we contacted Lars, we had no idea that they would add such incredible inspiration and creativity to the process. Lars’ expert guidance was not expected, but greatly appreciated. Obviously, their team is very experienced in dealing with customers who have no idea what they really want. Not only is our kitchen beautiful now, but it is amazingly functional. They took our kitchen from the 1970s to 2019! We now actually enjoy cooking or just hanging out in the kitchen admiring the high-quality workmanship and design. As an added bonus, we now have no need to store kitchen items in our utility room! Everything fits in our new kitchen perfectly with room to spare! We had multiple meetings prior to the start of construction, so our Lars team knew us well! We asked for good communication, and we certainly got that and more!

Due to prior experiences with other contractors, we had some fears going into this, but the Lars team handled our concerns and fears with grace and professionalism! We appreciate people who take pride in their work, and our Project Manager, Memo, was a stellar example of this. He was not only satisfied with getting the job done right, but went the extra mile in every aspect of the project to get it done better and faster than we expected. He paid special attention to even the smallest details and coordinated the trades with precision. I can’t imagine the other Project Managers at Lars being as good as Memo, but if they are, I see why the reputation of Lars is top-notch.

No words can express how much we appreciate Lars. Looking at our new kitchen every day will always be a reminder that we made one of the best decisions of our lives! In reading other reviews, I note that the cost of the remodel is an issue. Yes, we worried about this as well; however, we now know that it was worth every penny and absolutely do not regret spending the money.

We had a large bathroom remodel by Lars recently. I was very concerned about the amount of time it would take, but Owen our job superintendent reassured me it would finish on time and he was right even 2 weeks early. All the Lars employees were a pleasure to work with on this project. The design team understood exactly what I wanted and made it happen. The construction crew cleaned up at the end of the day, everyday. There were no “extra” charges as we have had in the past with other contractors. You will be very happy with the whole process with Lars.

We have had the pleasure of working with LARS for the addition of an attached ADU at our home and a half bath in another location. Our Project Consultant, Ken, is an excellent communicator and walked us through all aspects of the project, including contact with our HOA and SD city for plan approvals. Saif, created the intricate plans based on our preferences, as well as a virtual rendering of the finished product. Erica, the interior design consultant, “”got me”” when it came to all the interior finishes, from counters and tile to fixtures and paint colors. Our detailed on site Project Manager, Jon, kept a tight schedule to keep the project moving along. He made sure the work area was kept tidy and existing elements of our home were protected. We had used Lars in the past and are very happy we came back! We highly recommend using Lars Remodeling and Design!

We chose Lars to do our total house remodel in 2008 from seeing their ad on television. We also interviewed two other similar firms, but we chose Lars because they understood and worked with our “vision” for our home. Their design team was outstanding and made things “work” that we didn’t think were possible! They really helped us to get as close as possible to our dream home within the existing physical limitations. Their main designer, Brandon Spahn, was very flexible and willing to tackle any changes we suggested or hoped to be able to include in our plan. He was very knowledgeable and introduced us to things that were possible that we had never considered. We were 110% satisfied with our experience with the Lars design team!!

We highly recommend Lars for any remodeling needs. We are so glad we chose them for the whole-home remodel on our 1927 craftsman house in the South Park neighborhood of San Diego. Ken was our project manager and was able to work on a design that maximized the available space in our home to make it so much more livable. We never felt rushed or pressured in a certain direction; Ken and the Lars team helped us work through several design iterations. He also handled the city permitting and kept us informed along the way. We also really appreciated the Lars process. While we were waiting for the city permits, we worked with our interior design team, primarily Erica Green, to pick the finishes. Erica is worth her weight in gold. She made all the decisions both easy and fun and our house turned out beautifully. Erica was especially adept at remaining budget conscious while keeping the aesthetic and style of the house. We are so thankful she was part of the team and trust her implicitly. The Lars process also included weekly meetings with our construction manager so we had the opportunity to watch the house from demo through rebuild. As expected with a 100 year old house, there were “discoverables,” but we appreciated how Lars communicated those with us along with options. Finally, their services extended beyond final completion; for items that require warranty service they have been very responsive and have resolved any issues promptly. Overall, we wholeheartedly recommend Lars and would absolutely be available to discuss our experience further!

Wow, we are so happy with the way our backyard project turned out! We had hesitated to start our project because of all the construction horror stories we had heard. We met with several construction companies, but the Lars presentation was by far the most complete and professional. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to achieve and even did some preliminary drawings. When we met with the design team, they improved our initial concept in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Construction started on schedule, and the project management and coordination of all the moving pieces (permits, trades, SDG&E, etc.) was seamless. I was telling the owner, Brandon (after he dropped by for a post-project visit bearing a gift!), that we have spent more time in our backyard in the last month than we had in the previous 30+ years.

I hired Lars to redesign my master bathroom. I really wanted a high-quality product that I could be proud of. My bathroom is absolutely stunning. I was so happy with my team of Dominic, Lori and Wendy they were so attentive and knowledgeable. I would definitely use them again.

Lars really sold me on their capabilities and experience, and they really came through on my kitchen/dining/living room remodel, offering such creative design ideas for the selection of cabinets, flooring, granite, appliances, etc. My remodel involved taking down a couple of walls, relocating the sink/stove, eliminating and resizing windows, and it’s just beautiful. I was living in my home during the downstairs remodel — The construction crews were careful to be sure my cats didn’t get out, and they cleaned up every day. I interviewed five of the large remodeling firms, and Lars reviews were consistently great – they were a perfect fit.
