Lars Remodeling & Design was recently featured in the January 2013 issue of San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles magazine. Jason Larson, our company president, shared some of his insight and experience as a San Diego remodeling contractor based in La Mesa. He discussed some of the trends in today’s residential remodeling projects and offered some advice to homeowners considering a renovation. He spoke about the importance of trust between a client and the remodeling company and reminded readers that “remodeling is about more than just lumber and nails.”
Challenges
In the interview, Jason also talked about some of the challenges that our company has faced with renovation projects, including the recent remodel of a historical house in the area. The idea was to create a larger, more comfortable home by adding some space and modern amenities without losing the historical feel and heritage of the original structure. It required an artistic blend of existing woodwork and new cabinetry, refinishing and restoring original flooring, and upgrading and preserving original plumbing fixtures. Working closely with the client, we successfully created a beautiful and spacious remodeled home that honors the tradition of its era.
Concepts
Jason also explained the design-build concept in the home remodeling industry as one that enables a single contractor to meet with the client to understand their goals, needs and wants, then offer creative solutions to achieve them. Once a final design and budget are chosen, there are several steps involving the project coordinator, interior designer and the client. Together, they select all of the elements of the project so that it can be accomplished on time and on budget.
