Kitchen Remodel in Alpine
Designed for two cooks, this Alpine kitchen remodel pairs expanded work surfaces and storage with a bold black-and-white palette, warm brass accents, and expansive views. Lars also repaired hidden water damage beneath the original kitchen, creating a stronger foundation for a space built for daily cooking, gathering, and long-term use.

The Project Story
Designed for Daily Life
This Alpine family came to Lars with a clear goal: create a kitchen remodel that gave two cooks enough room to work comfortably without sacrificing the character of their Alpine home. Through Lars’ design-build process, the original kitchen was reimagined with a more open layout, expanded cabinetry and a substantial multi-level island that adds generous prep space, seating and everyday storage.
The finished kitchen balances light and contrast through creamy perimeter cabinetry, deep charcoal accents and richly veined surfaces carried across the counters and island. Black plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware add definition, while warm brass pulls and oversized lantern pendants bring an inviting layer of warmth. A farmhouse sink positioned beneath the large picture window makes the surrounding landscape part of the room, and thoughtful additions—including a pot filler, dedicated coffee station and integrated beverage storage—support the way the homeowners cook and gather.
During planning, the team also uncovered water damage beneath the existing sink that had affected portions of the subfloor, floor joists and perimeter framing. Before the new kitchen could be installed, Lars repaired the compromised structure and addressed the related exterior stucco damage. This behind-the-scenes work protected the home and created a sound foundation for the remodel.
The completed space is brighter, more functional and better connected to the adjoining dining area. What began as a kitchen renovation became a carefully coordinated improvement to both the home’s daily function and its long-term condition—giving this family the two-cook kitchen they wanted, built on repairs they could feel confident about.
